Dr. Tongzhe Li

Research Overview

Dr. Tongzhe Li’s research combines economic theory with behavioral and experimental methods to understand how individuals and markets make decisions in agri-food and environmental contexts. Her work uses laboratory and field experiments to study real-world behavior related to innovation adoption, consumer decision-making, and policy responses in food and agricultural systems.

A key focus of her research is examining how economic, social, and political factors influence behavior, including issues of social comparison and discrimination. Her research provides evidence-based insights to inform agri-food policy design, technology adoption, and sustainable food system transitions.

Network Information and Nudging in Agricultural Runoff Management

This project uses behavioral experiments to study how information sharing and nudges influence farmers’ technology adoption and decisions affecting agricultural runoff. The findings inform the design of effective policies to reduce nonpoint source pollution while promoting socially optimal environmental outcomes.
